Valentine’s Day is coming up very soon and oh yes we have valentines!!  Pick up some romance books to get into the mood.  Danielle Steel has a new one called “Until the End of Time”  And we have all the Nicholas Sparks books–not a bad idea for a date since his new movie Safe Haven comes out on Valentine’s Day!

Ground hog day is coming up fast and I vote for the end of winter!  The only related books we can think of are Muriel Barbery’s “Elegance of a Hedgehog” and anything to do with Sonic the Hedgehog!  Looking forward to warmer weather this week.  Come in and find that perfect porch read!

Lots of book out this week, we can’t wait to read “The Last Runaway” by Tracy Chevalier, her  “The Girl With a Pearl Earring” is an all time favorite.  James Patterson has published a new book in his Private series called “Private Berlin” this series has been very popular. And Brad Meltzer’s “The Fifth Assassin” is another great pick.  All just in time for this cold snap we’re having!

It’s time for bird watching on the coast!  The many lakes and wetlands in our area make great places to see the migratory birds this time of year.  Stop by to pick up a guide or two.  And while you’re here let us find the perfect book to curl up and read on these chilly nights!

We’ll be open all day Today (Saturday) and on Monday from 10am-1pm for all you last minute shoppers! We’re happy to help with any recommendations for your Christmas Shopping Lists! Some big sellers for us lately have been Willie Nelson’s Rolls Me Up and Smoke Me When I Die and Haywood Smith’s Wife-in-Law. We also have next year’s almanacs out in store. Stop by and finish up your Christmas Shopping or pick up a good book for the holidays!

On Tuesday, December 4th, join us for our Christmas Stroll! Shop and eat locally at participating stores (Including Pelican Bookstore) and receive discounts and win prizes, all while benefitting local animal rescue groups and animal causes that affect our community! All participating businesses will discount purchases 10% on December 4th, so do your Christmas shopping for a good cause!

• Shoppers will be encouraged to visit up to 24 participating businesses on Tuesday December 4th from 10am-5pm.
• Begin your day with breakfast at Castaway Grill or lunch at Fibber McGee’s with a free non-alcoholic drink at each!
• Each business will stamp appropriate space on the shopper’s list
• No purchase is necessary
• Participating businesses will discount purchases 10% on Dec. 4th
• Each Business has donated a door prize for a drawing at Sharky’s
• Shoppers & Friends are invited to join us for dinner & a complimentary glass of wine (as long as it lasts) as Sharky’s on OIB at 6pm.

Turn in your business list by 6:15 at Sharky’s to be eligible for drawings. Shopper’s name will be entered 1 time for each business they visited.

We hope you all have a great Thanksgiving and get to spend some wonderful time with family and friends! We can’t believe how fast the year has gone by. Christmas will be here before we know it, so it’s time to break out the shopping lists.

The latest in the Dark Tower Series by Stephen King has gone into paper. “The Wind Through the Key Hole” We have that!!   Clive Cussler has released a new Dirk Pitt novel called “Poseidon’s Arrow” His books are always an adventure.
One of or favorite authors Barbara Kingsolver has written “Flight Behavior”.  Hope it as good as her other…we’ll let you know.  Now that the elections over…Let’s read!
