Pelican Bookstore and Silver Coast Winery invite you to meet Dorthea Benton Frank on Monday evening June 10th at 6:00pm for a reading and signing held at Silver Coast Winery. Dorthea will read from her latest book The Last Original Wife. You won’t want to miss her, she is a wonderful and very funny speaker! We will have copies available to purchase at the event, as well as some of her other books. There will be a $7.50 cover charge for the event, the cost of which does include one glass of wine.
We ask that you arrive shortly before 6pm, as the reading will take place first. We can’t wait to see you all there, and we just know this book will be great! The weather is warm and we love it! The author of “Saving CeeCee Honeycutt” has written a new book,”Looking For Me” another sweet story from Beth Hoffman. A staff pick for this week! Also new this week, a new Mary Kay Andrews, “Ladies Night.”
For the young adults, Sarah Dessens new title “The Moon and More” is out and Ransom Riggs’ “Miss Perregrine’s Peculiar Children” is out in paperback. Stop by the store and pick a book for your beach reading!

New Books this Week!
It’s going to be a big week this week for blockbuster books. Dan Brown’s long awaited “Inferno” was released last week and this week Khalid Hosseini’s book “And The Mountains Echoed” will be released Tuesday. Also still selling well is Jeffrey Archer’s book “Best Kept Secret.” Lots of great things at the bookstore, so stop in.

A Few Photos from the Strawberry & Wine Festival
The Strawberry and Wine Festival this past weekend was such a great success and we thank all of you that came out! We had a wonderful time. And a big thanks to Marybeth Whalen, Jacqueline DeGroot, Silver Coast Winery and The Old Bridge Preservation Society who all made this great event! We can’t wait to do it again next year!
Sunset Beach Free Summer Concert Series
Pelican Bookstore is proud to be a sponsor of the 2013 Sunset Beach Free Summer Concert Series. The concerts are every Wednesday starting May 29th and going through Labor Day. The events take place at The Village Park on Queen Anne St. (one block behind Pelican Bookstore) under the gazebo. The concerts start at 6:30pm and the music keeps playing till 8:30pm. The best part about these concerts, other than the amazing bands, is that they’re all free! So grab a few chairs or a beach blanket and come out to a party in the park! Marybeth Whalen and Patti Callahan Henry, both authors and contributors on SheReads.org, one of our favorite sites. It’s a site run by authors to promote other authors whose works “are not receiving the attention they deserve.” If you love a good book you should definitely check it out!

Who Doesn’t Love Wine (And Strawberries)?
As you may have already heard, Silver Coast Winery along with the Old Bridge Preservation Society is hosting the First Annual Strawberry and Wine Festival on Saturday May 4th. The event also has several sponsors (including Pelican Bookstore) and the proceeds from the festival will go toward the projects of the Old Bridge Preservation Society.
The event will run from noon until 6 pm and has a $5 admission. The event will be a fun afternoon-there will be six hours of music from the Imitations, a chance to meet Marybeth Whalen (author of “The Mailbox” and numerous other novels) a dance contest, live dancing lessons, juried vendors, and an art show amongst all of the activity. There will be strawberry shortcakes, food and drink, and BBQ, Chicken Stew, and pork barbeque for sale as well.
