Pelican’s Pick of the Week

The season is dying down a bit, so I’m off on vacation next week, so what I am taking with me on my vacay:  “Chaperone” by Laura Moriarty and “Rules of Civility” by Amor Towles.

What did you read  on your vacation this summer?  Beside the Shades of Grey Trilogy.

Most folks in our area read a lot of our great southern authors, so hats off to Karen White, Marybeth Whalen, Jack DeGroot, Dot Frank and Mary Alice Monroe our runaway winners in that category!

We’ve had a busy week.  Did you know we also have jigsaw puzzles?  Best selection in the area!

Our specialty is being able to gauge what would be the perfect book for our customers to read next.  How do we do it? A lot of experience and a lot of reading helps but getting to know our customers is what we do best.

But if  we are not around try these web sights,  shereads.org or whatshouldireadnext.com.  But still the best place for advice is at The Pelican Bookstore!

We love love love “Flight of Gemma Hardy” by Margot Livesy , a great old fashioned read. The follow up to Discovery of Witches is proving to be a hit, Shadow of Night. And the new Artemis Fowl has arrived along with “Land of Stories” by Chris Colfer for the kids.  There’s also a new Big Nate in this week.  Things are jumpin at the bookstore, see you there!!!
