Pelican’s Pick of the Week

Let’s talk about audio books! We sell new and used books on cd.  Great for travel and this time of year a way to avoid all the buzz on the radio about the upcoming federal elections.

The best ones we’ve listened to lately:  Charles Frazier’s  “Nightwoods” was a real treat to  listen to.  I know you’ve read “The Help” and probably seen the movie, but it is a real joy to listen to on a girls road trip.  And if you have been putting off reading Pat Conroy’s “South of Broad”. Try it unabridged on cd.  His beautiful way with words really shines.

Sometimes the reader makes all the difference, for instance in my opinion John Grisham should stick to writing and leave the reading to the experts and  Bill O’Reilly’s “Killing Lincoln,” abridged version is read by the author.  A strong reader would have made all the difference.
